Getting Around

Scooter Rental Guide

Scooters are the best way to explore Krabi and Phuket at our own pace. Here's everything we need to know.

Krabi (Ao Nang)

Easy Riding
Rental Cost฿250-350/day
Daily Fuel~฿100-150/day

Lighter traffic, scenic coastal roads, easy parking at beaches

Phuket (Patong)

Moderate Riding
Rental Cost฿300-400/day
Daily Fuel~฿100-150/day

Heavier traffic than Krabi, avoid late-night riding, use taxi for airport

Essential Tips

Document Everything

Take detailed photos of the scooter from all angles before renting - scratches, dents, and any existing damage. This protects you from false damage claims.

Passport Safety

Carry a passport copy instead of the original if possible. Some shops accept copies, while others may require the original - negotiate politely.

Helmet is Compulsory

Always wear a helmet - it's the law in Thailand. Most rentals include helmets, but check the condition and request a better one if needed.

International Driving Permit

Carry our International Driving Permit (IDP) if available. While not always checked, it provides legal protection in case of accidents.

Fuel Availability

Fuel is available at roadside shops (glass bottles) and regular pumps. Roadside shops are convenient but pumps offer better prices.

Navigation

Google Maps works excellently throughout Thailand. Download offline maps as backup in case of connectivity issues in remote areas.

Railay Beach - No Scooters Needed

Railay Beach is only accessible by boat and is completely car-free. Everything is within walking distance, making it a peaceful break from scooter travel. We leave our scooter in Ao Nang before taking the longtail boat to Railay.
